Loved it!!!

For piss sakes, keep doing these! The personal nature of this, and the tone, and the material....spot on. Well done!

Torrent?

I don't know much about podcasts, but aren't they usually distributed via a bittorrent file? I feel guily directly downloading ~ 75 MB from a file server. Are any torrents available?

Well done

Definitely worth an hour of listening.

Awesome. It was great listening to you and Tres again. And the interview with Phillip (which is where I am in my listening right now) is great.

Nice! One audio suggestion...

I'm listening to it right now, and the sound quality is really quite good.
The audio geek in me can't resist pointing out that the levels vary quite a bit - some parts you guys are pretty quiet, then somebody says something funny and the laughing is way louder. The solution, which is a pretty non-intrusive thing with speech, is to compress the snot out of it. (This can also raise the noise floor, so it's nice if the compressor also includes a noise gate threshold control.)

I gather you're using Garage Band. I don't recall what Garage Band gives you in terms of compressors... it has a bunch of preset effects but IIRC they've all got goofy names based on what Apple thinks you should use them for. Something in there might help.

Great idea

...had a lot of fun listening to Chris and Tres...especially it reminded me to fix the broken 'tar' call in Makefile.in :-)

Another audio suggestion

To avoid the insanity of a 70MB+ file, try lower bitrate. 64kbps is plenty for voice recordings, and would reduce the size of the file significantly. (IIRC, the bit rate for the encoding was 192kbps or similar overkill :)

I had fun listening, and would definitely tune in again. If you want to make it a permanent fixture, we would be happy to host it on plone.org's bandwidth. Might need proper BLOB support in Zope for that, though! :]

(ooh, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cheesy music ;)

Congrats on the first Zopecast! Feedburner support?

Excellent production value. Fun, informative show. You might consider using feedburner or similar so users can subscribe easily with their podcatching client (ipodder.org, iTunes, etc.). Good luck with the show.

Loved it

Please do more! Just be sure to rag on Jens a little more next time ;^)

Great job - please do more

I'm a new Zope user and I found the plonecast very informative and entertaining. I plan to buy the book that you mentioned on Zope 3. I really hope that you continue to do more of these. The only suggestion I would make is to adjust the microphone settings or location relative to the speakers. I found that listening on my iPod I had to turn the volume up all the way to hear everyone speak, but that sometimes when a speaker would laugh or speak up it would get so loud it would be kind of painful on the ears. Anyway - not complaining - just a suggestion - thanks again!

Thanks for putting up the show. It was very informative/entertaining.
I only really deal with plone/zope mildly but hearing your podcast gives me a better run down.

Yeah, the only suggestion would be the same as what other people have suggested with the audio post-production. 64kbs mono, 44khz. That's what itconversations.com uses.

If bandwidth's an issue, I suggest ourmedia.org.

iTunes

Any chance of getting these into iTunes podcast directory?
