= Request - Entry #1 by Anonymous User on Aug 2, 2005 11:54 am
I have Plone installed on a Windows 2000 server. The server has IIS installed on port 80, so I used the ASP404 error script to redirect from the IIS box to my Plone folders which are on port 7080. http://www.zope.org/Members/hiperlogica/ASP404
I found that the External Editor did open up Plone content in my text editor, but I always got a pop-up error in my editor that said, "Lock request failed; 403 Forbidden." Edits I made to the content did not save back to the Plone web site.
However, if I use my Plone port 7080 in my browser's URL before requsting the external editor (click on the pencil icon), the External Editor works correctly.
It took me forever to figure this out. I suggest you include in the troubleshooting setion on your site that if people are 'redirecting' plone, then the External Editor may not work without using Plone's port number. (Or maybe there is a way to fix this in a future version of you excellent software :-)
